<p>Having now become a feature on the urban infrastructure calendar this year the Sustainable Urban Infrastructure did not disappoint attendees looking for updates on over HKD200bil in government projects that are currently underway in Hong Kong. Head of MTR projects TC Chew outlined current thinking in rail projects including an east west line in the north of Hong Kong potentially linking the proposed new development areas in the new territories. Meanwhile speakers from the development bureau, the CEDD and the airport authority outlined other innovative solutions to urban land requirements including further reclamation and developing underground land.</p>
<p>Two other stand out presentation were King &amp; Wood Mallesons game show styled presentation and Construction Association Chair, Thomas Ho’s, moving assessment of the future of the industry. For the industry to be truly sustainable it must not just be green but take case of the workers that contribute to it. The next conference in Facility Media’s urban infrastructure serried is on <a  href="http://www.todasia.com/" target="_blank">Transport Oriented Development (TOD)</a> to be held in June, 2013.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a  href="http://www.urbaninfraexpo.com/speakers/">TC Chew</a>, Projects Director of Hong Kong’s public transportation and property development giant <a  href="http://www.mtr.com.hk/chi/homepage/cust_index.html" target="_blank">MTR Corporation</a> will deliver a presentation discussing its upcoming rail project developments at the Sustainable Urban Infrastructure Conference 31 January 2013 in Hong Kong. With the MTR’s ongoing project rollout programme underpinned by its commitment to sustainability the conference provides a unique platform to interact with multiple industry participants.</p>
<p>Already the third year that MTRC has spoken at the conference and many of the projects discussed have since enjoyed rapid development. This year Chew will update the industry on the MTR projects such as the new Shatin to Central link and developments in conjunction with the new Kaitak redevelopment, South Island line and other upcoming projects that form part of the MTRC’s expansion strategy.</p>
<p>The MTRC will be joining a line up of expert speakers that include many government representatives including top-level speakers from the development bureau, private sector industry professionals and various other authorities.</p>
